Instructions for the 24-hour urinalysis are simple to follow. These instructions are for the 24-Hour Urinalysis testing service.

The 24-Hour Urinalysis screening provides biochemical evidence of what foods your body is having a difficult time digesting and assimilating. Your diet and digestion plays a critical role in how you feel and how you maintain health. Therefore, this screening provides key information about how to best improve wellness. Good health begins with a healthy digestive system.

Proper procedure is necessary, so please let me know if you foresee any problem in adhering to these directions.

PLEASE, EAT AND DRINK AS YOU NORMALLY DO. Do not change your routine.
Do not collect urine during your menstrual cycle or the day after your cycle.
Place the ice pack in the freezer immediately upon receipt of the 24-hour urinalysis kit
Read all instructions a few days before you plan on starting your collection and watch the video as well.

RECORDING MEDICATIONS AND DIETARY SUPPLEMENTS • PRESCRIPTION MEDICATIONS
Since many prescription medications have a profound effect on urine tests, please make a list of all prescription medications and the amount taken during collection of this specimen. Please note this information and email me the type and amount taken.

OVER-THE-COUNTER MEDICATIONS
Do not take any over-the-counter medications unless absolutely necessary during collection of this specimen. If you take any of these medications, make a list of the medications and the amount taken. Please note this information and email me the type and amount taken.

VITAMIN/MINERAL/HERBAL SUPPLEMENTS
Discontinue taking vitamins, minerals and herbs 24 hours prior to collection day or the day of the collection.

ENZYME FORMULAS RECOMMENDED BY YOUR PRACTITIONER
Your practitioner will inform you about whether you should continue taking these supplements or discontinue.

COLLECTION OF THE SPECIMEN
Use the orange collection container provided or a clean 1-gallon distilled water jug and keep specimen refrigerated during the entire collection period. The collection hat provided makes it easy for women to collect their urine specimen.

Day 1 of 24 Hour Urinalysis Collection

The recommended days to start are Sunday, Monday or Tuesday. This allows the specimen to be mailed by Wednesday at the latest. You will ship the specimen 2nd-day.

Flush (do not collect) the first voiding in the morning on the day of the collection. Begin collecting the specimen with the second voiding of the day.

Collect ALL urine for the next 24 hours, including the entire first voiding the morning of the second day. If you fill the specimen container provided by our office prior to the end of the collecting period, use another container of your choosing that has been thoroughly cleaned and rinsed, to complete the collection.

Measure the total volume collected and fill the provided specimen container. The orange jug has a measurement scale on the front that makes it easy. The total urine amount needs to be documented on the lab sheet under Urine Vol. Once you have the total volume documented. Invert the jug a couple times gently. Do not shake. Next fill the small white specimen container.

Mail the specimen with the ice pack and information sheet directly to the lab via Priority Mail. Place the specimen container in the smallest plastic bag with the paper towel. Place this bag inside the larger zipper bag.

Note: Please do NOT write your name on the lab sheet or specimen container. Your first and last initial plus the last 4 digits of your cell phone is your Patient Code. For example, Bonnie Schnautz would be BS8922. Do ensure you have marked your Sex, Height, Weight, Age and Urine Volume along with your patient code.
