Non Dairy Tomato Soup

I found a classic milk-based recipe and converted it to non dairy tomato soup. Tomato soup evolves such strong positive emotions from my childhood. Nothing says home more than grilled cheese and tomato soup. I'm pretty sure I lived on it growing up. Hmm, maybe that's why I'm gluten and dairy intolerant?! However, we did throw in a few grilled peanut butter sandwiches along the way. Do you have a favorite food or foods that bring back positive memories of home? Not only did I convert to dairy-free but also gluten and oil-free.  You never know when you healthily a recipe if it will convert as well. I…

Cauliflower Egg Salad

Cauliflower Egg Salad Potato Salad is a staple in the South. At one cookout, there could be 4-5 different potato salads! I don't know that there is an occasion where potato salad wouldn't be accepted. According to my Digestive Health Test results, my body doesn't digest potatoes well. Which is a bummer because I love potato salad as much as the next person. So, I created the best of both worlds! Potato-less Potato Salad! Yep, you heard that right. We're going to use that vegetable that can replace almost anything, cauliflower. Check out this Cauliflower Egg Salad recipe!   Ingredients 1 head of cauliflower (steamed or boiled) 3 boiled…

Avocado Cilantro Dressing

Avocado cilantro dressing can be used with crackers, salads, or as a raw vegetable dip. Plus you can use it on a wrap or sandwich instead of mayonnaise. The recipe as is will be thick but you can thin it by adding more water. The key as we know is finding that perfect ripeness of the avocado.  And when you do, it's magic. I love garlic so you can adjust accordingly if you want more. My husband doesn't love it as much as I so I compromise with 2 cloves! Avocados are not only delicious but an important source of healthy fat great for adults and babies! It helps…

What is mental fitness

What is mental fitness? It's a new concept in health called mental fitness. It's the percentage of time your mind is serving you versus sabotaging you. Independent researchers have validated the PQ (Positive Intelligence Quotient)  Score to be the single greatest predictor of how much of your potential for both success and happiness you achieve. Research has shown that higher PQ results in enhanced immune system functioning, lower levels of stress-related hormones, lower blood pressure, less pain, fewer, colds, better sleep in a smaller likelihood of having hypertension, diabetes, or strokes. What Is Mental Fitness? Stanford lecturer and best-selling author Shirzad Chamine has developed a program and book…

What’s destroying your gut

What’s destroying your gut health is a popular question. So many people now realize that gut health is foundational to our overall health. It’s even been called our second brain! Your microbiome is a complex ecosystem, home to an estimated 38 trillion living microorganisms and comprising over 10,000 types of bacteria and other microbes. These contribute more to your survival than your DNA. They digest food, supply vitamins, support the immune system, and create neurotransmitters.  Most of the bacteria in your gut help support your body. But, about 15% of the bacteria in the gut can have some negative impacts on your overall health. Most of the time…

Difference between Naturopathic and Allopathic Doctors

You may be curious about the difference between Naturopathic and Allopathic doctors.  There is absolutely a need for both in the world. Allopathic doctors prescribe medications and can perform procedures and surgeries. Their consultation is typically much shorter with regards to patient time which averages about 10 minutes per person. Conventional doctors are critical when it comes to acute (emergency) care. Naturopathic doctors may or may not be licensed depending on their education. Naturopaths typically spend between 30-60 minutes per client or patient.  They understand the importance of diet (whole, clean food) and the impact on preventing disease. Naturopaths are a great resource to find root causes and…

Food Sensitivity Testing

Food sensitivity testing (also called food intolerance), is highly beneficial to uncover hidden conditions and symptoms. I have clients that end up with high sensitivity to what we consider highly healthy foods such as beets or blueberries. Of course, beets and blueberries may be good for 80% of people. However, if you are one of the 20%, then clearly it is not the right food for you and will do more harm than good. “The food you eat can be either the safest and most powerful form of medicine or the slowest form of poison.”― Ann Wigmore Is food sensitivity testing the same as food allergies testing? Exposure…
