Top 10 Ways to Kick Colds & Flu Forever

Colds, flu, and sinus infections have been a part of history for our family. For me, it has been over 15 years since I've experienced any of these unpleasant conditions. Some of the benefits of less sick time include more quality time with my family, productive time in my business, hundreds of dollars saved in toxic over-the-counter and prescription medications and much less misery in general! Obviously there are no guarantees but these are things that have worked for me and many others have experienced the same success. I don't buy into the germ theory as I'm around sick people quite often. And, if this theory were true, then why…

Natural Solutions to Adrenal Fatigue

In 2013, a client came to me sharing that she had been diagnosed with adrenal fatigue.  I had worked with clients that had various health challenges but this was a new one. She was already eating clean and working with an Integrative MD so this was going to be a challenge. The only unique factor was her stress level was extremely high as she was experiencing extreme burnout in her career. To be honest, her symptoms were puzzling.  I kept trying to figure out exactly what it was she was feeling but I just couldn't connect to her symptoms. Usually my clean eating, resting and supporting the digestive process was the answer but in this…

Health Concerns with Genetically Engineered (or GMO) Foods

In the late 1990's I was diagnosed with a plethora of health issues, from allergies, asthma, Irritable Bowel Syndrome  (IBS), severe hormonal imbalances and depression plus ongoing bouts with flu, sinus infections, etc. Ironically in the 1990's, Genetically Modified Organisms (GMO) or Genetically Engineered foods were introduced to the public. Genetic engineering (GE) is where scientists take genes from bacteria, viruses or other sources and inject them in the DNA of a plant. A plant that humans would consume. 80-90% of soy, corn, canola and sugar beets produced are GE and these are found in 75% of our food supply. Another concern in our food system is the level…

Walnut Burgers!

Since I love the flavor of walnuts and the amazing health benefits (omega-3s), I am extremely excited about these "burgers". It's also a great way to create a Meatless Monday or any meatless day. 1 cup chopped organic walnuts (or BHT free) 3/4 cup of cooked garbanzo beans or lentils 1/3 cup of ground raw oatmeal or gluten-free bread crumbs 1 tsp smoked paprika 1 TBS Bragg's Liquid Aminos (healthy nonGMO alternative to soy sauce) 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes 1 TBS of apple cider vinegar 1-2 cloves of garlic 1 organic egg Place all the ingredients, except the egg, in a Vitamix or food processor and blend. Bake…

Buffalo Chicken Quinoa Salad

My son made this for me on Mother's Day which was a wonderful gift! For a meatless version, you could easily substitute tofu, tempeh or just omit the chicken as it would still be delicious.  Serve the salad room temperature or chilled. As always, be sure the ingredients are organic, or grown without pesticides and nonGMO. 1/2 cup of diced celery 3/4 cup of grated carrot 3/4 cup shredded cabbage 2 tsp minced garlic 3 cups of cooked quinoa 1 1/3 c cooked and diced organic chicken 1/4 cup diced green onion 1/4 c Buffalo wing sauce 1/2 T lemon juice 1/2 tsp sea salt (pink Himalayan is my…

Garlic Potato Soup

I can't be the only one who loves Garlic Potato Soup, right? I've never been a fan of milk-based soups so I wanted to create a broth-based version of potato soup. The only way I like warm milk (and I only drink plant-based) is swimming in cocoa! This soup is simple to make and really warms you from the inside out. And on a cold, snowy day like today, I need that. Hello frozen toes! Your local grocery store should have everything you need for this soup. If you can't find the wakame, don't worry. It's optional! I love to add sea vegetables for the salty flavor and nutritional…

Garlic Potato Soup (vegan)

I've never been a fan of milk-based soups so wanted to create a broth-based version of potato soup. Because the only way I like warm milk (and I only drink plant-based) is swimming in cocoa! On a cold snowy day like today, this soup was simple to make and really warms you inside.  Most of the ingredients you should have available besides the wakame which is optional. I love to add sea vegetables for the salty flavor and nutritional benefits such as iodine, magnesium, calcium, iron, Vitamin D and more. 6-8 cloves of organic garlic, (I chopped the larger cloves but left the smaller ones whole) 5-6 large…
