Easy Dairy-Free Mocha Mousse (Vegan + No Refined Sugar!)
If you’re looking for a super easy, dairy-free dessert that tastes way more decadent than it actually is—this creamy vegan mocha mousse is it. The best part? It’s made with tofu! And trust me, you’d never know.
I made this one night for my husband, who swore he’d never touch tofu. I didn’t tell him what was in it until after he practically licked the bowl clean. Spoiler: he was shocked. This rich, chocolatey mousse is smooth, satisfying, and completely dairy-free—perfect if you’re plant-based, vegan, or just trying to cut back on dairy and refined sugar.
It’s also naturally sweetened with dates (or date sugar), so you can indulge without the crash. Serve it up for a quick dessert, a healthy-ish chocolate fix, or even as a fancy treat for guests. It takes just minutes to make—no baking required!
✨ What You’ll Need:
- 1 (12.3-ounce) package of firm silken tofu
- 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder (or carob powder if you prefer)
- 1 tablespoon grain based coffee substitute granules (optional)
- ½ teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- ½ cup chopped dates (or ⅓ cup date sugar)
🥣 How to Make It:
- In a high-speed blender, combine the tofu, cocoa powder, coffee substitute (if using), and vanilla.
- Add in the chopped dates or date sugar.
- Blend until completely smooth and creamy.
- Spoon into small bowls, chill for at least 30 minutes, and enjoy!
💡 Tips & Notes:
- Want it extra chocolatey? Toss in a few dairy-free chocolate chips before blending.
- Serving idea: Top with coconut whipped cream, a sprinkle of cacao nibs, or a few berries for a little fancy flair.
- *Date sugar is simply made from finely grounded dehydrated dates.
This tofu chocolate mousse is one of my go-to plant-based desserts. It’s proof that healthy treats don’t have to taste “healthy”—and even the tofu skeptics in your life just might fall in love.
Let me know if you try it out!
