52 Weeks of Wellness- Week 5: SUGAR: How sweet it is...NOT February is all about sugar, natural and chemical. So, before you sink your teeth in to some Valentines Day treats consider these numbers: 80% of women I meet with struggle with sugar cravings. Through my 24 Hr Urinalysis testing we often find the body is deficient in its ability to break down carbohydrates due to an excess over their lifetime and deficiency in enzyme production. 90% of the children I've tested as young as 5 years are also found to be enzyme deficient and lacking in their ability to break down carbohydrates and that should really concern us. Sugars & Carbs =…

Week 2: Hydration & Coffee or Tea – 52 Weeks of Wellness Program

Week 2 of 52 Weeks of Wellness: Hydration & Coffee or Tea The focus is on hydration this month and how coffee/black tea impacts this key to wellness. Both are acidic which disrupt the body’s natural pH balance which in turns disrupts the digestive process. So you say, not a big deal. However, first the immune system is primarily in the gut and second, if you are not digesting food may literally be starving to death. This creates the perfect environment to create sickness & disease. Coffee/Tea with caffeine also greatly stress the body which greats to further health issues. So your challenge this week is to greatly reduce…

The Alarm

The Alarm I woke up before the alarm today, thank God.  I really despise alarms.  Alarms are loud, set our nerves on end, disrupt us from our focus (usually much needed sleep) and force us to take action immediately. My first thought this morning was that this is just like our health.  The alarm signifies our “wake up” call.  We may have been diagnosed with high blood pressure, high cholesterol, arthritis or God forbid cancer. Every day we make choices.  We either say YES to health and NO to disease/sickness or we say YES to disease/sickness and NO to health.  There really is no in between. We can…

Cranberry Date Salad

This Cranberry date salad is a bit addicting! As a bonus, it contains all whole foods. Plus, I recommend using organic ingredients as well to prevent adding things you don't need in your diet such as pesticides and herbicides. It contains dates as a natural sweetener and does not contain sugar. This is so delicious, I eat it for dessert! 2 cups raw cranberries 8 large Medjool dates (pitted) 2 oranges peeled 1 apple chopped 4 tablespoons walnuts Place all ingredients in a food processor or Vitamix and blend for one-two minute. The mix should be chunky. Serve immediately and store in the refrigerator. I like to add…
